¿Alguno de vosotros ha jugado alguna vez con un eco? Aunque sea con un juguete de niños... O con la ecualización de vuestro equipo. Quitar los bajos, ponerlos,....

Yo a veces juego a hacer versiones dub de mis temas. No una cosa muy elaborada, sólo un juego con los procesadores de efectos, los envíos de las mesas de mezclas, las EQs extremas. Y todo viene de que a un puto crío jamaicano se le ocurrió enredar en el estudio y montarse sus propias mesas con rosquitas y potenciometros. El DUB tiene un encanto fascinante para todo el que haga música con aparatos. Y si no ha llegado, llegará.

Lee Perry es un super genio. Estaba loco. Enterraba cintas con sus mezclas, las ahumaba,... hacía mil experimentos. Scientist y su saga de aventuras (con los monstruos, con el mono gigante, en la copa del mundo, con el pac-man, con los vampiros,...) son repetitivas cuando repetitivo es virtud. Sly Dunbar y Robbie Shakespeare se han expandido hasta tocar todos los palos, han colaborado con los mayores genios, han producido la crema... y por supuesto se han dejado tocar por los mejores del dub, aquí por Bunny Lee. Estos son probablemente mis discos favoritos de dub jamaicano.

Por detrás una rareza grabada en los estudios Randy (Studio 17) de la familia Chin. El disco está acreditado como Impact Allstars por la increible selección de músicos: Chinna Smith, Augustus Pablo, Aston Barret, Winston Wright. Pero más apasionante es la historia del estudio regido por el inmigrante chino Vincent Chin y los arreglos y la producción de su hijo Clive... cuánta historia y cuánto talento para una isla tan pequeña.

Otros: Mojazz me rompe cada vez más. Me destapa agujeros que desconocía. Necesito masilla. Me voy de diggin' ya!

Y, no sé si será por lo del pelo, pero no tengo nada de rasta. En mi vida no hay espacio ni para la religión, ni para los profetas ni para los dogmas. Y no me gusta ver como, en la mayoría de las ocasiones, unas palabras tan importantes como AMOR y RESPETO sólo esconden intolerancia y odio hacia lo que es diferente. Rechazo eso. Eso sí que es Babilonia. Opio. Adormidera. Despiste. Engaño. Represión. Chinatown "Sin Dios". Mmmmm, que me lío.

I do sometimes play dub versions of my songs. Not a very elaborate, just a game with the effects processors, shipments of mixing, the extreme EQs. And all that comes to a fucking kid Jamaican entangle it occurred in the study and fitted with its own officers rosquitas and potentiometers. The DUB is a fascinating charm to all who make music with machines. And if you did not come, come.
